Today's Gift - digging

Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, and Today is a Gift.

Time spent digging.  A big gift for me!  One of the things I love best.  Digging and feeling the soil between my fingers, the smell of freshly turned soil.

 I want to keep digging until I am very old!

 The boys love digging and all things to do with gardening although the digging bit is always the highlight!

 Looking for jewels - (I have mentioned before that pirates once lived here!!)

and worms.

And getting to know you earth.

Quiet time sitting with the sun streaming through the window, spinning with babe asleep in my arms while Mark and the older three boys went out.  So quiet and so special to tune in to the rhythmic sound of a sleeping babe's breathing and the gentle whirring of the wheel.  Soul music...

And this afternoon, the gift of wildfood - ramson shoots in the woods.

The Gift of the Day

 I remind myself each day of this well known saying:

Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, and Today is a Gift

 Each day I am thankful for the gifts of the day.  There are so many gifts given to each of us each day -  small fleeting moments, a smile, a word, a thought, actions, beauty in nature.  Each day for the rest of March, I endeavour to post to show something of what the day has gifted.

So today!  The gift of the day - wind and air and sun.

A blustery spring day.  I gently washed two fleeces by soaking them in cold water overnight and this morning draped them over the line to dry. 

I love the images of the white fleece dancing in the wind and the daffodils, just starting to open, dancing in the wind.

Vibrant yellow - reminds me of the sun.

 

Soft white - reminds me of the clouds.  

 

 And even a gift for the creatures of the air.  Fleece blown off the line and caught on branches for the birds to line their nests with.
