Early February Snow!

Memories of the snow we had at the beginning of February.

Jediah and his friend the snowman.
The snowhouse Mark and Sol built.
Little knitted snowman I quickly knitted that morning.

Snow!

It has been so mild so far this winter but we were in for a surprise one day as we drove to visit friends to suddenly find ourselves driving in thick snow.  The roads were slippy - not fun yet the snow was just so wonderful.  All the world transformed white and magical and then when we got back home no sign of snow.  It was much thicker than it seems in these few pictures.
And we even managed to spot a reindeer in a garden centre neighbouring the woods we were playing in!

Snow, snow!

At last!  Lots of snow greeted us this morning and it has snowed all day long.  I don't think we've ever had this much snowfall here.

Hooray for snow!

Snowmen!

So much snow, so much fun building snowmen!

These are Sol's snow guards. Beware anyone approaching!

A big family effort to make this one.

Snow - beautiful winter wonderland

We have had such beautiful snow falling this week.

We have been out walking and playing. The first days were grey and heavy with snowflakes.

One day, we saw a beautiful stag run into the middle of a field, stop, listen and then swiftly dash off.

Since then, bright days with glistening snow shimmering like crystals. The woods look particularly beautiful. As we walk through, it is incredibly silent and we almost expect the snow queen to ride past us.

New Year and Twelve Days of Christmas

Happy New Year and richest blessings to all!

Look at the beautiful first sunrise on the first morning of the new year!

Christmas was frantic yet fun-filled with lots of family and laughter. Since then we have spent our days in peaceful contemplation, reading, exploring, playing games (battleship battles being fought and dominoes challenges), lots of sleeping, and lots of enjoying family time.

Our twelve days of Christmas ring. Each boot has a little treasure or treat for each child for the days from Boxing Day up to Epiphany.

We've had grey, overcast days here and some snow

and a very beautiful moon.

Wishing you a beautiful, memorable day today!
