St Nicholas and Advent

Crystals we grew last week.

Excitement and playing at being St Nicholas and Rupert. This is such a lovely festival to celebrate and my boys are so intrigued by St Nicholas and Rupert and just can't hear enough stories about St Nicholas. They all look so forward to this day. The happiness and anticipation and care lining their slippers up the evening before.

Beautiful evening walks to energise us.

And lighting of second light of advent.

This is such fun.  We have made these crystals before, experimenting with different shapes and different colours.  We mix about 5/6ish tablespoons of borax in very hot boiled water in a big glass jar until it has all dissolved.  Then hang our shaped pipe cleaner (tied with string to a wooden skewer) into the jar and wait for the magic to happen overnight..
