Lemon Balm tea

Lemon balm is a great herb for children.  It grows so easily and it's pleasant, gentle lemony smell and taste appeals to children.  Lemon balm is refreshing when infused as a tea.  It is soothing, aids a sense of well-being and eases colds, coughs and fevers.   Recent scientific studies have proved lemon balm aids learning and the storing and retrieving of information. It is also anti-viral.

The children enjoy making lemon balm tea.  They collect a bunch of leaves from the lemon balm growing in the garden.  Rinse the leaves and pop them into a little teapot.  We then pour boiled water over the lemon balm leaves.  Pop on the lid and leave for 15 odd minutes.  Strain, and then enjoy a lovely cup of tasty lemon balm tea. A happy herb!

  1. We have A LOT of lemon balm. I planted it outside our kitchen window because it smells so wonderful--I'll have to try brewing a bit to see if my little one likes it. :)

Do you add a bit of sugar/honey?

  2. Hi Jessica, two of our boys drink it without being sweetened. One of them likes a bit of honey added. It is a delicious tea! Hope your little one likes it if you try it.
