Rolled candles and sunny custard tarts

Lots of sensory happiness yesterday!  We made beautiful rolled beeswax candles.  The smell, colour and feel of the beeswax sheets...wonderful.

And little suns - custard tarts.  This is the first time I've made custard from scratch and I was very pleased with it.  I used the custard recipe from 'The River Cottage Family Cookbook' by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.  Again, such a wonderful smell - homemade custard sprinkled with grated nutmeg (something the children enjoy doing - grating nutmeg).

  1. Pretty candles! I especially like the ones you made from triangular shapes. They will be so fun to burn, especially knowing they were handmade by your family.

  2. Hi Kelly

I know just what you are saying. Once you have made beeswax candles, the smell the touch, for me, there is no going back. I love all things natural. We have a local bee farm and the kids love to visit. your little ones must have loved rolling them.

  3. Thanks Tammy, Sol made himself a very small triangular one - it is his special little wishing candle.

Suzanne, so right about beeswax. You are so, so lucky to have a bee farm nearby to visit.
