Sunday adventure

Sunday was a rainy, grey day here.  Good for puddle splashing and we wanted to take the dog swimming at some quarries he has previously really loved swimming in.  He looks like a powerful water serpent moving through the water when he swims.  Sadly, there wasn't enough water in the ponds to swim in as the water levels change constantly.  There is a beautiful majestic old, dead tree in the pond our dog usually swims in with little holes at the base which can only be gnomes homes.

This area previously had factories build on it.  They were demolished and now nature has reclaimed the land.  Sometimes people dump things here which of course is not permitted, yet it is a safe place although sometimes on a cold, misty day there I almost think an escaped criminal with chains on his legs might appear, like old Magwitch in Charles Dickens 'Great Expectations'! It is windswept and teeming with life.  Such a huge variety of plant life here.  And animals - deers roam, birds nest here and lots of insects hop about.  It is a place people have forgotten about but nature has renewed.
