Halloween fun

Well, we all had such fun at Halloween. We don't do trick or treating and since we live on a farm with so very few houses around here to visit, a little treat treasure hunt suits us just fine. The excitement! Hunting about in the dark for treats under a beautiful full moon with those jack o lanterns glimmering warmly.
By the way, the moon has been so beautiful the past few nights. We have been going to sleep with our curtains open with the moonlight shining on our faces.

Halloween

I've had computer troubles so haven't been online in a while.

We are preparing for Halloween this evening. The boys had great fun carving pumpkins earlier this week. We have been cooking and baking all things pumpkin. Sol made delicious roasted pumpkin seeds.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween

Gosh, I am way behind on posting - must quickly catch up and add posts where they ought to be before I forget. Will add photos as and when I get organised!
After a great day out with some HE friends, we rushed home to carve our pumpkins and then have a small Halloween treat treasure hunt as we don't do trick or treating here. The boys decorated wizard hats also. Earlier in the week we made a Halloween wreath.

Icy rain and pumpkin decorating

On our morning walk through the woods on the farm this morning, we gathered lots of leaves, twigs, berries and seeds to decorate pumpkins with. When we set off it was a bright, crisp morning and on our way back it rained and we enjoyed icy hail. We stopped in the rain to chat to the farmer who was erecting new fencing for the pigs. The children always quiz him on what he's up to and the dog likes to be a general nuisance hoping for a pat. Poor man must wish he could quickly hide under the nearest bush for some peace when he sees us heading his way! After the children's curiousity concerning the fencing was satisfied we went home to enjoy a warm cup of rooibos. Later, we decorated pumpkins using the autumnal gatherings. The children so enjoyed creating these lively characters, they were eager to make more. We should have a whole family of pumpkin creatures as house guests staying with us for the next week or so!
