Dry mud towers
Lots of fun can be had with wet, squishy mud, and when it dries out there is still lots of creativity and natural play to be enjoyed.

When the sun and wind dries out deep muddy puddles, there is natural puddle puzzle paradise!

The puzzles of mud can be pulled up, rearranged, used to build mighty towers or giants can fling them into deep seas of wet mud!

More mud encounters
Well, it's that time of year here. The time when all gets slushy and wet and muddy. There is an abundance of mud on this farm and my boys love mud. They love jumping in the muddy puddles, walking through the muddy trails made by the tractors, making mud pies and mud balls and generally getting as muddy as they can.

Monday's Mudfest
Well, we set out on an afternoon adventure to the woods to look for wild strawberries. We didn't find any. Our insect lover looked about for insects amongst the nettles on the edge of the woods.

Amongst his finds were two interesting patterned yellow and black ladybirds.

Then, they all came across a very inviting muddy puddle that just had to be played in. Shirts off, mud on.

And the mudfest was in full swing.

Mud monsters.

Happy and muddy...home again..

Mudman
Earlier this week on a warm morning, we found ourselves exploring mud once again. There is a lot of it around here so we can't help having these frequent mud encounters. Well, it started off as a 'who can throw a mud ball the furthest' to 'let's make something' and each one of us got happily absorbed in creating this fine looking fellow - mudman. The mud felt glorious between our hands. We all worked together in joy and muckiness for hours.

Mad about Mud
With all the rain we have been getting there is mud everywhere on the farm and my boys love it. They have been having such a great time running up and down the deep tractor tracks spashing along in the water and mud, digging in it, moulding shapes along the edges, getting stuck in it. They truly get covered in mud and just love it. Here on Mud Island, more fun to be had outside than staying inside, that is for sure - whatever the weather!
