Eagles, owls and vultures..and a little felt chicken

We visited the bird sanctuary over the weekend.  So many impressive birds are kept there.  Most of them are birds that cannot live naturally in the wild due to injury.
This crowned eagle chick has been saved.  Eagles normally lay two eggs and once hatched one chick kills the other.  This weaker chick was saved from being killed by the other.
Our majestic fish eagle with it's haunting, beautiful cry.
 Sweet family of owls.
 Just look at that face!
An Egyptian vulture.  This vulture looks like a scary witch!
Another type of vulture - quite handsome really.
Giant hornbill.  His name is George and he likes to give gifts of leaves!
This is a goliath heron.  These herons are really, really big.  As tall as a seven year old!
And this little bird is Sol's felt chicken that Noah made for him with only a little help! Sol has a favourite bantam hen called Stubby.

  1. How sweet -- the little felt chicken melts my heart. However, the Egyptian vulture gives me nightmares. Ha!
