Nyanga in February

I love this part of the country - the Eastern Highlands, mists, pines, mountains and lots of long, energetic walks.  So many times in my life, especially childhood, I have visited this area.  We even spent our honeymoon (whisper ...20 years ago) here in the same spot.  Surely not that long ago.  It was so good for us to take the boys and to find them falling in love with the area too and wanting to come back and discover more.

Painted reed frogs.  They emerge only in the rainy, wet season.  They make so much noise croaking away in the evenings conducting rock concerts of their own design.  These fascinating little frogs change colour to adapt to their surroundings.  They are harmless.

Swimming in the natural swimming pool. Icy cold water, smooth rocks and lots of running water and currents to go with and sand to play in.

Wildebeest in the distance in open land, grazing and roaming.
Beautiful wild flowers..

Girdled lizard.
Incredible, creative stone carving carved out of exquisite Zimbabwean rock. So many different colours and characteristics.  The Shona people are world-renowned for stone carving.
Ant mounds or ant palaces.

    1. We were all so captivated by those little frogs, Gina!
That pool is a special place - such fun! We used to play there as children too. The boys wanted to go there everyday we were there.
