Flame lilies and mushrooms and insects in January

Our national flower, the flame lily is flowering at this time.  They grow in the wild and are so beautiful.  We went exploring in search of flame lilies and were so happy to find some nestled amongst aloes.

All types of interesting fungi can be found here and there too.

Walks through woodland.
We have spotted lots of these hook-winged, net-winged beetles about.

And these very beautiful fruit chafers.  What magnificent colours!

  2. Oh Kelly, I adore that black fungus. It's so exciting to see fungi from 'another land.' Do you remember my love of all things spore-y? If not, you might think me odd. But I have a feeling you remember...and probably expected this comment.

    Love always,

Long live the flame lily~! What a very different picture I see. No more snow....hot hot walks through bush and new bugs to be explored. I hope you are happy and well my Sista friend.

    Love to you all.
