King Sun he climbs the summer sky ascending ever higher.
He mounts his gay midsummer throne, all made of golden fire.
His flowing mantle, flowing free, His shining gifts he showers
All golden on the earth and sea, on men and beasts and flowers.
- Summer - Wynstones Press
Our Summer nature table holds bunches of oats and wheat and bunches of wild grasses and red clover, magpie feathers and old roman snail shells and crab apple, hazelnuts, and felted butterflies and our Father Sun. I made him by needlefelting his head, body and arms. His gown is made of felt with some needle felting detail, I knitted his cloak using yarn with oranges, yellows, greens and reds which reminds me of the sun, nettles, all the green goodness of summer, poppies, calendulas and the fields of oats and wheat around us. His hair and beard is Cotswold fleece locks dyed with nettles.
The fields of oats surrounding our home are turning golden now. You can just see our house in the distance.

ReplyDeleteYour table is beautiful and very summery. How I love little babe's expression in your little carrier... is it an ergo?.. So much easier to carry there on the backs. I was looking at my boys last night and can't believe how big they are getting. So bold and confident.
