Woodland Gratitude

Isn't it so good when you get to know a natural place really well? We know our woods on this farm so well and we love spending time walking, exploring, playing, drawing peace and comfort and strength from being there - present.

Being still, listening to the trees telling their tales, to the wind and to the birdsong...

So many memories of happy games and discoveries.
We have various dens for various occasions, different trees for different games.
We know where a badger's set is, where different birds like to roost, places rabbits have their homes and where a little grey squirrel lives..
We know different spots to find different wild flowers, fungi, cones and other treasures..

Little hollows in trees each serve a different purpose...
This is the place witches make soup...The boys are just giving it a quick stir for them...

We are grateful that we have these woods in our lives. Thank you, woodland, for all you give us, for all you teach us. We respect and love you.

  7. I just love the word woods. In Australia we have bush or rainforest - no woods - I really want to visit a wood one day!
