Earth Candles on Candlemas

We celebrated Candlemas yesterday. One of the activities we did was to make our earth candles to warm up the earth. We do this every year. It has become a tradition. Each year, for each festival we celebrate I vary stories and activities although favourites stick. It is enriching and rewarding when the festivals and related activities become family tradition.

I love the contrast of the warm, yellow of the beeswax and flame against the cold, brown earth.

  2. I love this idea but have yet to have a go. It's snowing again here so I think snow candles might be more our thing right now ;)
