We visited our favourite arboretum yesterday and collected lots of conkers (from horse chestnut trees). Strangely, there are no horse chestnut trees growing on this farm. We hope to germinate a few and hopefully plant the seedlings here. We love collecting conkers each year and really look forward to collecting them and playing with them and using them for lots of crafts! Such, such fun.

Conkers in the pods.

Looking amongst the fallen leaves for the beautiful treasures!

We spotted this delightful little horse chestnut elf sitting in his horse chestnut tree.

Our collection of conkers (with a few alder cones in there too).
Wow what a harvest....can you roast them the same as ordinary chestnuts?
ReplyDeleteHi Leanne, they look delicious but are inedible for humans. Perfect for deers and squirrels and horses though.
