Around the farm at the end of summer

There are sheep grazing in grassy fields covered with wild flowers

and happy children enjoying those wild flowers too.

There are mountains of hay bales just brought in by trailer load and stacked around the farm.  The hay will be used for bedding for the pigs and will last through the year until next end-summer.

There are fun little passageways and hiding places for little mice to scamper through.

The pigs are still happily being pigs.
The farmer has harvested the organic oats and will be harvesting the organic wheat this week. The boys can't wait to see teh big combine harvester at work and after that the baler making the hay bales.  We are preparing for our own little harvest celebration in our home.  We are grateful that we get to enjoy the rhythm and the cycle of the seasons and observe the farming activities connected to the seasons throughout the year.

  2. Oh goodness, the pigs really grew up since your post in January!!! I love pigs...they are always the first animal I like to see at the fair. They just seem to be so content and happy. What wonderful lessons they could teach all of us.

    Lovely photos, lovely post. :)

  3. Good morning dear Kelly.

How lovely to have such abundant running space for the boys. I have never seen so much hay stacked like that. Such gorgeous pigs. I love knitting a pig. We have such a cold day today. It has been so hot and now so cold. I hope you and your family are well.

A happy peaceful weekend to you .
    Warm regards

    Dear Suzanne,
I keep planning to knit up some pigs. Will get around to it! We are having a bit of warm weather which we are so thankful for! The mountains of hay bales are so much fun for the boys. Hope you are all having a lovely week and that your cold spell passes soon.
