A while back, Sol did some pond dipping and kept a small batch of frog spawn. Only a little so as not to cause any damage. He watched the tiny tadpoles hatch and eat up the frog spawn jelly. Each day, he fed the tadpoles and cared for them. Eventually, they grew their legs and arms and lost their tails. He then returned the little frogs to their natural habitat.

Morning dear kelly
ReplyDeletePlease tell Sol we love his post. Aaron loves to do this is Summer too. We live near a pan and we have on occasion spotted "Plat Anna's" These are frogs with pointed heads and very flat bodies. I recall often having to swim amoungst the tadpoles and frog spawn in our very green pool in Zimbabwe. I know Aaron and Sol would have had a ball way back then....
Have a lovely day Kelly. To your special boys too.

OH!!!!!!!!! I just love this. What a cute tiny little frog. I am so pleased that Sol was able to watch this process and then return the baby frogs to their home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight this post was to read and see. :)
Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteSol is really loving frogs right now so he will be very interested to hear about your Plat Anna's. They sound very interesting. Suzanne, wish I had known you back in our childhood days in Zim! When we were there in 2007, Sol was, in fact, swimming in a green pool with little frogs in it. He swam about catching them!! Sol admires Aaron's finds and would love to bug hunt with him.
Hi Tammy
The tiny frogs are very, very sweet but I can't say the same for tadpoles! To me, they are a bit creepy with their little mouths always munching and quite vicious in that they seem to eat anything, even little frogs!
