Painted terracotta flower pots

Fun, bright summery activity.  We used acrylic paints for these.

Sol was really immersed in painting these and planted some seeds in the pots as soon as they dried.  While he was painting these, his younger brothers were painting all sorts outside including adding a green stripe to the dog!  Then they came in to 'help' rinse paint brushes/dishes/themselves in the kitchen sink.  I topped up paint for Sol and mopped up lots of water splashed everywhere by the younger enthusiasts.  It does get a bit wild and messy around here frequently.

On the larger pot he painted a phoenix rising out of flames.

  3. What lovely pots Kelly. I am not too sure what blog I saw this idea but a mama gave her little boy a tub of water and a paint brush and sent him outside to water paint. It looked like such fun. Water on various objects makes for some interesting textured findings. I am going to be doing that with my little ones.
