Goodness, it has been so many days since I last posted! We have mostly been outside adventuring. Plant identification and wild foods have been ongoing interests around here and I discovered our flower press was so full of all our beautiful dried specimens. So, we got out a bag of air drying clay and the cookies cutters and the flower press and made these clay prints with the dried flowers. So many possibilities with this.

We also made some prints using pine cones and leaf imprints and painted them with watercolours once dry.

And then another variation using fossils and stones, and shells.

We used a knitting needle to poke a hole through the wet clay and once dry, strung some jute string through the hole and hung the prints up on willow sticks.
Hello Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI have missed you!
I was actually beginning to worry about you and was going to email you today to see if you were all right. But now I see all is well and loads of creativity has been going on you side of the world. Your nature clay prints are wonderful, such a clever idea!
I have been attampting to spin on my spinning wheel but I think my tension is off. I really must find someone to show me. I will stick to a drop spindle for now, LOL...
Wishing you a fantastic week and it's great to see you in blog land once again...
Warmly
Linda
Nice to have you back!
ReplyDeleteThis was fun to see. A very creative idea I will do with my own kids. :)
Hey there Kelly, glad to have you back! I love this, such beautiful creations! I didn't realize you could watercolor paint on air dry clay.
ReplyDeleteHello Kelly
ReplyDeleteSometimes little breaks are good for writers cramp...you come back filled with inspiration. So nice to have you back. I see you have been making wonderful hanging treasures. I can just see them hanging in your garden tree. They are lovely. Anymore Spring forest flower displays? Have a look at one of the blogs I follow on my list called 'red dirt mother' the blue bell picture is awesome.
The village my knitted treasures have gone too is called 'Wells' about 45 min from Bath. Its a gorgeous village. One of my dream holiday spots.
Have a lovely evening.

ReplyDeleteSuzanne
Also missed you!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful... esp the pressed flowers... what gorgeous christmas decorations they will make too!
Dear friends,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. I have missed everyone too and am looking forward to a few hours to catch up with all your wonderful, inspiring blogs.
Linda, I spindled for quite some time before I managed to get a wheel and it did make it easier for me to get the hang of spinning. It does seem daunting at first. Before you know it you'll be spinning away creating all sorts of beautiful wool. Are you spinning ready prepared roving or raw fleece in the grease?
Lisa, we have been eating lots of dandelion cookies - very tasty!!! I didn't think you could watercolour paint clay but seems to have worked!
Tammy, we have been collecting up pictures for those story stones we are eager to have fun with. Hope you are having lovely spring weather this week!
Suzanne, I posted some bluebells pictures at the end of April. I have more I pictures I will blog. You know, it is so really very magical and special to sit and wonder amongst those bluebells. I think of you when I am there in the woods.
Magic Onions, have missed you too! The clay prints would make lovely Christmas decorations. Really are so many possibilities. I love clay and the boys really love creating with clay too.
Have a wonderful week.
Best wishes
Kelly
